Like Crazy

For our next section in Critical Approaches we have to choose a film to critique and consider the terminology and theories we have learnt before to this section. We need to consider most importantly our own reactions to this film. The film i have chosen is Like Crazy that came out in January 2012 the main plot is a British college student who is studying in America, falls in love with an american student only when they become separated due to being banded from the USA as she over stays her student visa. The film follows with them through their love story including the major ups and downs.

What attracted me to this film was the overall concept and one of my favourite actresses, Felicity Jones. There is a really beautiful quote that gets to me every time when one of the main characters Anna shares a poem with Jacob for the first time "I thought I understood it, that I could grasp it, but I didn't, not really. Only the smudgeness of it; the pink-slippered, all-containered, semi-precious eagerness of it. I didn't realize it would sometimes be more than whole, that the wholeness was a rather luxurious idea. Because it's the halves that halve you in half. I didn't know, don't know, about the in-between bits; the gory bits of you, and the gory bits of me." I find this film beautiful and captivating. It never fails to make to cry but never the less i always enjoy committing time to devour into the story.
